The map has been color-coded to show the different coastal regions, which are used throughout this web site. I’ve used roughly the same regional designations as the California Travel and Tourism Commision, so if you also use their maps you can easily follow along. The Northern California Coast includes the counties of Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino and Sonoma. The San Francisco Bay Area includes the counties of Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz. The California Central Coast includes the counties of Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. The Southern California Coast includes the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego.
