Kayaking at Caves below Dinosaur Park in Shell Beach

Question: Where is the easiest place to enter the ocean for kayaking at the caves below Dinosaur Park?

Answer: Dinosaur Caves in Shell Beach (just north of Pismo Beach) are found on the cliffs below Dinosaur Caves Park. However, the recommended put-in for kayaks is to the west of the park, at the base of Cuyama Avenue and Ocean Boulevard.

There's an informative article in Coast & Kayak Magazine, which details exactly where to go to explore these dramatic caves and what you'll see, along with some great photos. The article also describes how to negotiate the caves, so be sure to check it out before you go.

Guided tours of the caves are also available from Central Coast Kayaks. And the caves can also be viewed from Dinosaur Caves Park at low tide, but you won’t be able to explore them that way.

Hey, thanks a lot mate. It was so nice of you to attach the map of the beach, so that confusion can be avoided. I have heard that kayaking at this spot is very interesting and the experience would be a memorable one too, from my friends.
