This multicolor California county map labels all the 58 counties in the state. I’ve also included an elevation map to give you some idea of how the counties correspond to the terrain.
You’ll notice that the huge counties in the southeast corner are desert regions, while the tiny counties clustered in the center of the map are primarily located in the central valley.
You'll also see that the coastal counties, which we feature on this web site, include parts of the Coast Range and coastal valleys. So a visit to the California coast also offers you an opportunity to enjoy mountains, forests, and woodlands.
The coastal California counties can be categorized in 4 regions: Northern California Coast, San Francisco Bay Area, Central California Coast, and Southern California Coast.
You can see the 4 regions on this California county map.
