September 22, 2005 - Fleet Week in San Diego

Fleet Week

September 24 - October 19, 2005

San Diego thanks and salutes military service men and women. There will be a variety of events, including navy ship tours, golf tournaments, the Imperial Beach Blast, Miramar Air Show, Boot Camp Challenge, the Coronado Classic Speed Festival, and Navy Ball.

The flagship event is the Fleet Week Sea-n-Air Parade, when the U.S. Navy parades a variety of ships and aircraft down the Big Bay. Last year, over 100,000 spectators watched this impressive display. The parade is scheduled for October 1.

September 23, 2005 - Get Creative in Carlsbad, California

Carlsbad ArtSplash

Get your creative juices flowing at this family festival of art, music, food and fun. You can watch some amazing chalk art street painting being created. Local artists will showcase their work and demonstrate their techniques. There will be street entertainers, performance artists, and on-stage music and dance. And, of course, there'll be plenty of food.

The event is free, and will take place at Armada Drive above The Flower Fields. Carlsbad is located about 30 miles north of San Diego on I-5.
