July 13, 2005 - Off to the races at Del Mar

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club

July 20 - Sept. 7, 2005

The Del Mar thoroughbred racing season gets underway at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The track was founded in 1937 by Bing Crosby and Pat O''brien, and still attracts numerous celebrities and "beautiful people." In spite of all the attention, the city of Del Mar is still a casual, small-town sort of place.

When you're not at the track, you can enjoy Del Mar's 2.5 miles of sandy beach, where you can surf, boogie board, swim and sun. Del Mar is located 20 miles north of San Diego and 100 miles south of Los Angeles.
